Called to be a Blessing

It's probably the most undesirable thing we have to do in Mexico, and that's choosing the familys that receive the next houses that God has provided the funds for. A church in Houston has sponsored 2 homes and Larry and Judy Peterson sold thier other home in Phoenix and donated money to build another home, sounds like the early church in the book of Acts, when people sold property and gave to those less fortunate, May God Bless them even more. We drove around yesterday morning with Pastor Nahoms wife and visited a family of 5 living in a small shack in the colonia we first built in over 10 years ago. Even though they have electricity, the house they live in is small and very cramped. Another family at the end of the colonia we spend most of our time in has seven people living in a 20 by 15 foot house with parts of the roof missing, the walls have large holes, and there is no door, just a blanket hung over the opening. And still another family that flooded pretty bad in the hurricane needs a dry place to live. A family we met after Dolly does not own thier lot and therefore can't recieve a home until they have a lot of thier own. So we need to build three houses in the next month, in this extereme heat. My prayer this morning was for Gods wisdom and his continued provision for the people in Mx. Raul stated that most of the people we come in contact with are believers in Christ and that made me asked God then why are we here if most people are Christians? The answer came before the question left my lips. God wants us to be a blessing to the Body Of Christ in the place that he has placed us. Many people there think we live there, because we are there almost every day, all day and sometimes well into the evening. The relationships we have in the colonia are getting deeper as we spend most of our time there and we are seeing people connecting more with their neighbors also. Beto and Carmello are there everday to help us do whatever we need help doing. I'm going to miss going there today, but we need to do some things around the house. The Pig roast Sunday was great, but it was a pig fry. The meat was put in boiling oil to cook and was very good. It continues to be very hot here. I placed the thermometer in the sun and it took the needle past 120. We finished Daniel and Carmens house with curtains, shelves and Paula's special touches to make the house a home, they love it!!! I brought my gas powered edger and chain saw to let people use to clean up some fallen trees and high weeds on thier lots. The heat has the moms bathing thier kids 2 or 3 times a day to cool them off. Some people have the little inflatable pools and thats another way to beat the heat. I've been tempted to jump in the canal to cool off, but havn't yet. Saturday we gave out all the clothes we had to give out and the people in the colonia Flor De Mayo were blessed. The people were standing in line waiting thier turn to sort thru the clothes to get an item or two. Pastor Juans wife Rosa and thier daughter Rachel came to help give out the clothes. We used thier church and the tables to spread the clothes on. Pastor Juan is in southern Mx ministering there for a few weeks. We would like to encourage you to box up unwanted clothes and send them to us, we also need umbrellas to give out, shoes, hats whatever! The needs are always there and when we collect enough, we give them away. God Bless You and have a great day.
