TONIGHT'S THE NIGHT, PIZZA AND ADIOS

Leaving is always a bitter sweet day. We're so thankful for the ability to visit every year. God's goodness is overwhelming. As we pack up the R.V. and the trailer, it's already full. So if anyone brings more stuff tonight, we'll be sleeping on our couch on the way home.
We're looking forward to returning to Mexico and building the next house with a small group arriving Saturday from Iowa.
Thanks for all your prayers and support. We will be looking for an opportunity to help those in the Houston area after the devastation caused by the hurricane.

GLAD AND SAD NOT BE IN TEXAS

With Hurricane Harvey bearing down on the Texas coast, we can't help but be concerned. The flooding rains could very well reach into South Texas with devastating consequences. I think about all the families we have built houses for on the other side of the canal. The last hurricane 8years ago flooded their houses for months. Please pray for those in the path of Harvey.
Our time here goes so quickly and the time spent with Lea and our family is precious. We took her to the Air and Water Show on the lakefront and it was fabulous. We drove 6 hours south to view the eclipse, visited with some partners and golfed a few times.
Our pizza party at Moraine Valley Church on August 30th at 5:30 has about 50 confirmed coming and we're looking forward to seeing everyone. Thanks for the prayers and support.

WE MADE IT TO ILLINOIS

After loading up the team from Naples Christian Church in the R.V. with our little trailer in tow, we drove to San Antonio and dropped the team off to visit their retired pastor. Paula and I continued north.
A small detour to Rogers Arkansas to visit the Davis family. A huge storm kicked up some heavy rain and wind and we had to stop for an hour or so. We have never been in Eastern Oklahoma before. Very pretty and some steep hills, made us a little late for church. We enjoyed the service and lunch with the Davis family.
We spent the night in Osage Beach, Missouri at an R.V. park with a golf course right across the street. We played 18 holes and drove the 4 hours to Carthage, Illinois where Rick and Diane Balmer now live. They had a catfish fry and 2 couples that make the annual trek to build a house in Mexico.
I played golf the next morning at Western Illinois University with Brad Hunt, and then headed over to Roy and Carla Days for a brisket dinner and fantastic desserts. Several Carpenter's Crew members came and shares about all that's been happening in Mexico lately. Thanks all for the great time. The guys changed a flat tire on the R.V. a piece of metal cut one of our tires, so they mounted my spare. Muchas gracias.
We arrived at Kristin, Larry, and Leas by mid afternoon Wed.and have been playing with Lea ever since.
Our annual pizza party at Moraine Valley Church is Wednesday August 30th at 5:30. We will provide the pizza and drinks, if you want to bring a dessert, feel free. Please RSVP Paula 708 275 9572 or me at 708 528 4622. We are collecting diapers of all sizes, pack and plays, backpacks for school kids, and of course monetary donations are always accepted. SEE YOU THERE. We will be leaving right from the church to host another group arriving Sept, 2nd.

WHEW!!! SUMMER MISSIONS IS IN THE BOOKS

Today we dedicated our 3rd house in 30 days. Naples Christian Church youth group built the house in record temperature. Each day topped 104. The fruit that has been born out of the last three youth groups is totally worth every minute. Today Alvarado, his wife Mediam and their children all committed their lives to Christ. That makes, I think, 16 people accepted Christ as Saviour this month.
What a great time this week's team has had. Brett is the Youth Pastor at their church and has wanted to come to Mexico on a trip with us for 10 years, and God finally gave him the desire of his heart. An incredible day today, topped off with a visit to Progresso Mexico for some souvenirs and of course Mexican food.
We drive the team to San Antonio Saturday morning and head for Chicago. We'll pack everyone into the R.V. and continue North. Looking forward to some cooler weather.
We will be hosting our annual pizza party at Moraine Valley Church on August 30th at 5:30 pm. All are invited, we will provide the pizza and beverages, anyone willing, can bring a dessert or veggies. Please RSVP to Paula or myself, we will need a head count. We will be sharing about our ministry as well as the miraculous transformation of Melodys Orphanage. See you soon!!!
