Mexico Missions with Bruce and Paula

Sunday brought two huge blessings, first Bill and Karen Mills from Chicago were in town for a one day conference and we were able to share a meal with them and then visit a church plant where he was speaking. We were encouraged by Bills message about the fact that God uses ordinary people like us to accomplish his plans on earth. Ministry has to rest on the sufficiency of Christ rather than our own ability. Whew! that takes all the pressure off. It really is Christ, living in us to will and do of HIS good pleasure, not Bruce and Paula trying to be missionaries because we fail far to often to believe anything less. After saying good-bye to Bill and Karen we drove up to San Antonio to recieve another blessing from Phil and Marilyn Chain who we met a few years ago. Anyhow, the annual packpack drive they hold has overflowed into our lives again as the generosity of many that filled the packpacks will bless many children in Reynosa as well as Cancun. They are just another Divine Appointment of Gods in our life since getting out of the boat. We spent the night in S.A. at our good friends Juvenal and Benitas' house and while Paula and Benita spent some time together, I took thier son golfing. Yesterday, we wanted to get some more work done on the house Raul and I started last Friday and we built one wall and the heavens opened up and it poured for an hour we scurried after the rain and built the second wall and it poured again even harder. You really don't realize how bad people in the colonia that don't have a new house have it until your there in a storm. Water leaking everywhere, Paula and Martina sought refuge in thier bedroom and right there in the middle of thier bed was 5 gallon bucket catching water from the roof leak. And the mud, gad zooks, you can't even walk around it is so slippery. It's supposed to rain all week, so we don't know when we can get this house built. GOD KNOWS

WHILE PASTOR VICTOR AND BRAWLIO BUILD THE WALLS OF LUCIANO AND EVAS' HOUSE, RAUL, CATARINO Y YO CUT AND BUILT ALL FOUR WALLS OF MELIQUCADES AND MARTINAS' HOUSE. THEY PAINTED EVERYTHING THIS WEEK AND WHILE BETO AND CARMELO ARE BUSY FINISHING UP ON A FEW CARS THEY NEEDED TO GET PAINTED, WE GOT STARTED ON THE HOUSE. WE NEED THIER HELP TO INSTALL THE SIDING AND STAND THE WALLS UP SO WE'LL WAIT UNTIL THEY CAN HELP, POSSIBLY MANANA OR MONDAY. WE HOPE EVERYONE HAD A GREAT EASTER WEEK, WE ATTENDED KAILAS QUINCENERA HER FIFTEETH BIRTHDAY BASH. IT WAS HELD IN RIO BRAVO, EAST OF REYNOSA. WE WERE A LITTLE LEARY OF TRAVELING OVER THERE AT NIGHT BECAUSE THE CARTELS MOVE AROUND AT NIGHT, BUT WE HAD A GREAT TIME, GREAT FOOD AND GREAT FELLOWSHIP. EASTER DINNER AT FURRS BUFFET WITH THE KINCAIDS AFTER CHURCH MADE FOR A GREAT EASTER DAY. NO WATER AGAIN THIS WEEK IN THE COLONIA, SO PLEASE PRAY FOR THE WATER DELIVERIES TO RESUME. I ACTUALLY FOUND TIME TO START PAINTING THE TRIM ON OUR HOUSE IN TEXAS. IT DESPERATLY NEEDED A COAT OF PAINT, NOW ALL I NEED TO DO IS GET A LADDER BIG ENOUGH TO DO THE SECOND STORY, THE FIRST STORY IS ALL DONE.

HIS STORY IN OUR LIVES

We moved to the TX/MX border in the Fall of '07 from Chicago, IL. We had been coming to Reynosa on short-term missions trips for over 10 years. Each time we left a little bit more of our hearts behind. Thru the circumstances of life Paula and I both agreed that now is the time to do that which gave us meaning and purpose in life. So we sold our home and came to the Rio Grand Valley at the southern most point of Texas. We have since joined with Mexico Missions Inc. to assist them with their childrens backpack programs in Mexico. Our mission is to reach the poorest of the poor in Mexico. We build homes, offer food and clothing to those in need, but most importantly we share the love and hope that is found in our Lord Jesus Christ. Living radical lives has expanded our vision and ministry from feeding hundreds of families to thousands.

Our ministry is totally supported by people like you.Since we did not raise our needed support before entering the mission field we continue to walk by faith that God will speak to the hearts of those of you reading our blog and joining us on short term trips to Mexico to help us help our brothers and sisters in Reynosa. Child school sponsorship $400.00 per year per child, a newly designed home can be built with some help from the people in Mx. for a gift of $3800.00 or any portion thereof until enough money is raised to build one.
