FAMILY TIME IN COLORADO AND MEXICO

We often struggle with our call to missions in Mexico and the time we need to invest in our family and this past weekend we spent some great time with our two daughters, Kristin and Kelly and Kellys husband Ryan and his parents Jim and Jan. Kelly graduated college on Sunday after we spent a few days at their home in Breckenridge in the mountains. It was quite chilly and rainy on the campus with an outdoor ceremony on Sunday, but the time we spent with them was nothing short of awesome. The views, the snow, the family time and new friends, made for a perfect mini vacation. We arrived back home on Monday evening and the crew from IIT had already spent the day in the colonia building their latest designed house for a very needy family. These students design and build a home to meet the needs of the people they serve in Mexico and this years home is really cool. Our daughter Kelly, my son in law Ryan and His Parents came last night to continue Family time building a house for Damian, Natalie and their two kids. We had always prayed that one day we could build a home for a family together, so this is a special week for all of us, and hopefully an annual event to become a sort of family tradition. We all worked hard today to get all four walls up as the IIT group put the finishing touches on the house they are building. Carmelo and Beto are a huge help as usual and we all worked well together. We are truly blessed with so many willing hands and hearts to sacrifice their time and money to meet the needs of the poor.

MOTHERS DAY AND MY BIRTHDAY

Tomorrow is Mothers Day in Mexico and I know Paula would like to be with her Mom, but that trip will have to wait until maybe next month. We will however spend some time in the colonia with some other Moms. Saturday Paula had a time of handing out Mothers Day gift bags to many women as they came to get some clothes that we were giving out as well. It just so happens to be my birthday, so Paula is making chicken and mole', one of my favorites. As Damian and Natalie continue painting all the wood for their house that we will build next week after we return from our daughters graduation in Denver, they are excited about the gift they are about to receive. We will be truly blessed to have our Daughter Kelly, our Son In Law Ryan and His parents Jim and Jan help us build this one. One family blessing another family with a house, it just doesn't get any better than that. I've got a good head start on the house by cutting most of the wood for the walls and assembling the rafters. They will only be here for a few days so a head start will make it possible to finish and decorate it. While we are building that house, The Mexico Project team from IIT in Chicago will be building a house for another family just down the road. We pour that foundation in the morning and the wood should arrive and be all painted while we are in Denver. Kristin is coming to Denver for Kelly's Graduation, so it will be a great few days. Please pray for Kristin and Kelly and their Grandmother as they deal with her recovery from a stroke and the need for rehab followed by placement in a nursing home. Kristin has lovingly cared for her Grandma for several years and the stroke has moved the need for long term care to a reality. They need to get that settled before they leave for Denver.
