HOW CAN WE SAY THANKS?

As we headed home in the R.V., loaded down with generators, clothes, tents, umbrellas, tools, and many other things donated for the people in Mexico we are so grateful for everyone who is part of our life and therefore part of our ministry here. We all have a part in touching so many lives thru your generosity. The situation is pretty grim as many houses we have built over the years are under many feet of water and the people are living outside, under tarps and have many of their belongings just sitting on the road. They all just make due with the hand that has been dealt them, no complaining, or playing the victim card, just watching as the water level slowly inches down. Yesterday we built the addition on Carmelo and Ruthy's house, probably not the best thing to do with my new knee, but we finished it in one day and will spend the next few days delivering food and water to the people on the other side of the canal. The trip home was somewhat of a challenge because of the record heat in Ms. and La. A few blown tires and several hundred dollars later we managed to make it home by Wed. evening. Generator problems had the air in the R.V. not working all the time and the heat index was 123 degrees in Mississippi. We miss everyone already in Illinois and are glad that Alan, Lynnea, Roger and Dan made the trip home with us. Dan Castro will be spending the next few months living in the colonia to help with his Spanish and at the same time, teaching some English to any that want to learn. Thanks to Moraine Valley Church, Laharpe Christian Church, and Palos United Methodist Church for the opportunities they gave us to share about the work we do here, and for their generous gifts. It's good to be home but I need to take it easy on my knee and yesterdays building left it a little sore, so the houses we need to build will wait a little while. God Bless you all and thanks to our friends and families for allowing us the Joy and Privilege of serving our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ as we wait for His return.
