Oikos

In Luke 19:1-10 Jesus enters Jericho to reach Zaccheus and his household (oikos).  In fact Jesus proclaims, "Today salvation has come to this house (oikos)...For the Son of Man came to seek and save the lost" (Luke 19:9-10 [ESV]).  God's desire is for the salvation of households.  This is evident in the events of the past twenty-four hours in Nopalera, Mexico.  God used the hands and feet of a team from North Carolina to build a house so that He could bring salvation to a household.  The father, mother, and two children, as well as the father's uncle, received salvation and were baptized along with three other individuals (two of which are an additional household) under the International Bridge on the border of Mexico and Texas.

God's arm has not been shortened and he is mighty to save!  The ground was plowed through prayer, the seeds were planted, and God brought the harvest!  It is evident that the harvest is plentiful, but as Jesus said, "the laborers are few.  Therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest" (Luke 10:2).

Praise be to God for the day of salvation in Napolera yesterday. The team from North Carolina had been in united prayer for the family we were building a house for over the past year. We prayed for salvation to come to that household and our God answered that prayer! What a mighty God we serve! Our team has received an unbelievable blessing to have been a part of this. We pray that our God has been glorified through this trip and we continue to pray for Bruce and Paula as they disciple this group of new believers.
