THE DAY OF THE CHILD

The Day of the Child is a day to celebrate the joy children give us. We had a wonderful time giving out the hudreds of backpacks filled with all kinds of great things, toys, candy, balls, dolls, some clothes and school supplies. David and his Wife Luzmar along with thier three kids put on a wonderfull puppet show with a gospel message, and then we strung up two huge piniatas and the kids beat them until tons of candy flew all over the place. We bought three bikes and raffled them off to three lucky boys, they were really glad they came. Later on that afternoon we met with most of the pastors and thier wifes for a fantastic meal of grilled chicken, steak, and sausages along with pico de gallo, avacados and of course the drug of Mexico, coca-cola. We are going to meet like that once a month and build unity with all the different churches. So after 11 hours in the colonia, we came home exhausted and enriched by all of the days activities. Our neighbor in the colonia told us about thier sons continued struggle in the hospital after his car accident last week. He has now lost his whole left foot and has a bone infection in his right leg. We started building another house yesterday and the heat is on down here, 100 yesterday and almost as hot today. We start early and quit after noon, so tommorrow we'll finish and decorate.
