DENVER TO THE DUMP
After spending a few days in Denver in those beautiful surroundings for Kellys' graduation, the week ended with building a house for a family in the squatter dump in Reynosa. We shared a wonderful time of hard work in the heat to provide two families with hope and a future, giving them our time, talents and resources to make their life better. While Mikee and the team of Mexico Project.Org built a newly designed house, Paula,Me, Jim, Jan, Kelly, Ryan,Carmelo and Beto spent two and a half days assembling and decorating Damian and Natalies house just across the canal. While many people around the world waited for the Rapture to take place, we put our faith to work by being a blessing to a family of believers, storing up treasure in heaven by doing what the bible calls in Ephesians 2 vs 10, " the work that God prepared in advance for us to do". It's not just enough to call yourself a "Christian", you have to BE ONE. Living everyday on this earth to touch someones' life in a significant way and to make a difference right where you are. Dedication day is always the best day. As the teams put the finishing touches on the outside, the girls put the finishing touches on the inside, by making their new beds, hanging curtains and pictures on the walls, arranging the food and gifts on the shelves so that when the family enters the home for the first time, they would experience the love of God and our love for them as well. We were all emotional as we prayed for these families and blessed the house and their future. The time goes so fast as we had to say goodbye to everyone yesterday Paula and I took Kelly, Ryan, Jim, Jan, Jeb, and Mike and Rose Smit to the airport and the "ground crew" drove off and headed back to Chicago. It was a quiet ride home for me and Paula because we really love when people come and stay with us and to be part of what God is doing down here and when they leave, a part of us goes with them, and part of them stays with us and the peoples lives they have forever changed.
