IT'S ALL ABOUT PEOPLE

As the house takes shape, each student expressed thier own personal high point of the day as we gather after dinner to share our thoughts, and most of the high points were about the children as they interact with during the construction process. All their time and efforts of planning back home were coming to reality during construction, but more was happening with these 8 young adults. Sure, we got the floor and four walls up yesterday, but the memories of the the students from IIT will be filled with how they were able to change a families life by serving them. Questions were being asked about the kids and families of the colonia, and you could see their minds searching for more ways to help improve thier poverty. The group worked well together, and grew in their own maturity, and views of the needy. You can only imagine what new ideas will sprout from brainstorming when they get back home. They have accomplished a great deal in two days of hard work, and have all connected with the children and the people in the colonia as well. In the midst of all the gloom of the world and the poverty of the colonias, its good to see this group of students bring hope with a smile and care for people. Two men stopped by yesterday and helped the team paint and thier only request was that we could possibly give them some food to eat for thier efforts.
