TWAS THE WEEK BEFORE CHRISTMAS

The week before a Major Holiday like Christmas has us really, really busy. Our team from Moraine Valley Church will arrive the day after Christmas. 30 willing hearts, surrendering their Holiday Season to serve The Living God. Isn't that what Christmas is all about anyhow? God sent His Son to be born on Christmas Day and everything changed for time and eternity. Our prayer is that every person coming next week will be forever changed by what they experience by pouring out their lives as a living sacrifice for the benefit of the poor and needy.
We had sparse internet service all week, which was ok, because we had so much to do in MX to get ready for the 6 teams coming over the next six weeks! Rachael and her sister Jenna are here from LaHarpe,IL. This is Jennas first trip to Mx and Rachael comes with the Carpenters Crew every year in February to build a house or two, but school schedules conflict in Feb, and they still wanted to serve along side of us so they came this week. We thank God for them and we have had a lot of fun. We all spent one night in our house in the colonia and they wrapped hundreds of Christmas gifts to be given out next Saturday. They are in Mx right now with Paula and I think they were taking a few gifts to some special people Rachael met last Feb.
Last night we all went over to Herb and Carol Moerings house in Alamo for supper and afterward, we walked around their neighborhood and went door to door and sang Christmas carols. That was awesome! Something the girls had never done and I hadn't done that for over 30 years. One man actually cried as he was so blessed with the songs we sang, and he hugged everyone of us and wished us a Merry Christmas. One man actually went and got his violin and played it along with our carols. A few people left their houses and joined us. Do want to be a blessing this Christmas to people? Gather some friends and family and go around your neighborhood caroling. I double dog dare you!!
The families have their wood all painted and Carmelo, Eliazar and Arturo have everything ready for concrete on Monday on our community center foundation, that the Power Ministry is building in January We can't wait to use that new building for all of our outreach programs.
